Run It Again: Javonte Williams and the Cowboys' Line Just Showed Dallas Who It Is
Cowboys Nation, that's what balance looks like. Monday night in Philadelphia, Dallas ran the ball 38 times for 204 yards and walked out with a 38-21 win, per the Cowboys' official site and NFL.com.
Our Take: Don't let the passing numbers fool you into thinking this was a Dak night. It was a line night. The formula that beat the Eagles has to be the formula for the rest of the season.
Javonte Williams carried 25 times for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown, the most rushing yards by a Cowboy since Ezekiel Elliott's 159 against Tampa Bay in December 2016, per NFL.com and the Cowboys' official site. Run the ball like that and everything else opens up: Dak Prescott threw for 212 yards, three touchdowns (two to CeeDee Lamb) and no interceptions, per AP and The Guardian.
The defense did its part too. DeMarvion Overshown, back from a hamstring injury, picked off Tanner McKee in the fourth quarter, per AP and the Cowboys' official site.
Dallas is 3-4 and still in the NFC East race, per The Guardian and AP. The hole is real. But a team that can lean on its line for 200 rushing yards doesn't have to win shootouts every week.
What to watch: whether Williams stays north of 20 carries. If he does, this offense finally has a floor.
