Joey Porter Jr. Is Healthy, Off the Pitch Count, and Pointing Straight at Lambeau

By , Cowboys of Dallas ·

Cowboys fans, the newest corner just lived the ugliest 48 hours a trade target can have — and he's done being the guy who watches from an Uber.

Our Take: Joey Porter Jr. is healthy after the illness that scratched him against Tampa, and he's telling DallasCowboys.com the plan for Green Bay is a full workload with no pitch count.

Porter went from a Steelers contract stalemate to a Cowboys debut on short notice, then got ruled out of his would-be second game after vomiting multiple times and getting sent home. "I really just couldn't hold anything down," he told the team's site Wednesday after returning to practice. He tried a nap to shake it, missed the team bus, took a rideshare, and still threw up outside the Uber on the way to AT&T Stadium. "It was brutal… I was pretty pissed."

The mini-bye bought him recovery time and a chance to finish learning the playbook after operating on a pitch count in the Houston win. Asked about limitations at Lambeau: "That's what I'm shooting for. That's what they're shooting for as well. So that's what we're gonna try to do."

What to watch Sunday: Porter matching up early and often against Green Bay's receivers, no snap-count excuses, and whether the secondary finally looks like the unit Jerry Jones paid up for when he made the trade. Star Nation needs the new guy on the field, not in the training room.
