Jerry Jones Says the 2-4 Cowboys Are Buyers, Not Sellers

By , Cowboys of Dallas ·

Two straight losses, a 2-4 record, and Jerry Jones is still shopping. Honestly? Good. If this owner is going to swing, the next three weeks are the time to do it.

**Our Take:** Buying is the right call in a soft NFC East, but only if the next move puts heat on the quarterback. Dallas does not need another headline. It needs a pass rush.

Speaking to reporters at the league meetings in New York on Wednesday, Jones said, "I'll be real clear, I would be active if we could get a chance to help the team this year," per The Dallas Morning News. Asked about selling, he said, "No, no, I don't see that," but added he would not rule it out if someone offered a deal like the one he made a year or so ago. That was the Micah Parsons trade to Green Bay.

Dallas already bought once, landing cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from Pittsburgh on Sept. 30 for a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, per Dallas Sports Journal. The 23-13 loss at Lambeau dropped the Cowboys to 2-4, level with the Eagles and behind the first-place Giants.

Blogging The Boys points to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reporting that Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat makes sense for Dallas. That is a report, not a deal.

**What to watch:** Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field against the Eagles, 7:15 p.m. CT. Then Arizona on Nov. 1 and Indianapolis on Nov. 8, two days before the Nov. 10 deadline. Win in Philly and Jerry stays in buy mode with a real shot at the division.
