Eight Games Without an Interception Is the Cowboys Defense's Problem to Fix Sunday Night

By , Cowboys of Dallas ·

Here's a stat that should make every Cowboys fan wince. Dallas hasn't intercepted a pass in eight straight games going back to last season, the longest streak in franchise history, per Blogging The Boys' research through Stathead and Pro Football Reference.

Our Take: the pick drought isn't bad luck anymore. It's who this defense has been, and Sunday night is the time to change it.

The 2026 Cowboys are five games in without one, the longest interception-less start to any season in team history. The 2008 and 2018 teams both got to four and broke through in game five. This group didn't, and lost to Tampa Bay last week. Go one more without a pick and Dallas ties its longest single-season streak ever.

Takeaways flip games. A short field for Dak Prescott, a momentum swing in a prime-time road game, a quarterback who suddenly has to think twice. Without any, the defense is asking the offense to be perfect every week.

Sunday night it's Jordan Love and the Packers. The new defensive voices brought in this month have to show up in the details: disguising coverage, rallying to the ball, and the defensive backs actually finishing the catch when a pass hits their hands. Dallas doesn't need five picks. It needs one, and it needs it to matter.
