DeMarvion Overshown Is Cleared, and the Cowboys Need Him Monday Night in Philly
Cowboys Nation, we finally get some good news on defense.
DeMarvion Overshown told DallasCowboys.com he has been medically cleared and will play Monday night against the Eagles after missing five games with a hamstring injury from the season opener against the Giants. "I've definitely taken this rehab, this recovery, very serious," he said. The team site expects him to be on a pitch count at first, and he'll line up at weakside linebacker.
He's needed right now. Dee Winters strained his Achilles in the loss at Green Bay, per Pro Football Talk, which notes Overshown has played 20 games and missed 38 with injuries over his four seasons.
Our Take: DallasCowboys.com says Overshown brings a level of coverage this linebacker room has mostly been missing over the last four games, and that's exactly what Christian Parker's defense needs. The key is managing him. A healthy Overshown for the rest of the year matters more than every snap on Monday.
What to watch: his snap count in Philadelphia, how he pairs with rookie Jaishawn Barham in the middle, and whether a defense that's been searching for answers finally plays a clean game.
