Cowboys Waive RB Emari Demercado and TE D.J. Rogers After the Win in Philly
Dallas cleared two roster spots on Tuesday. The Cowboys waived running back Emari Demercado from the 53-man roster and waived tight end D.J. Rogers from injured reserve, per DallasCowboys.com and AP (also Dallas Morning News and Pro Football Rumors).
Demercado's second exit
Demercado is out for the second time this month. Dallas first waived him on Oct. 8, then re-signed him five days later. DallasCowboys.com and the Dallas Morning News report he carried five times for 15 yards in two appearances and was inactive for Monday night's 38-21 win in Philadelphia.
Rogers from IR
Rogers, an undrafted TCU tight end, never played a regular-season snap. He went on IR with a preseason MCL sprain and was waived from the reserve list Tuesday (Dallas Sports Journal).
What's next
The moves open space with Marist Liufau and P.J. Locke both inside their 21-day practice windows after missing Monday night. No activation was announced with the cuts. Arizona visits AT&T Stadium on Sunday at noon CT.
Our Take: Demercado was a depth body who never stuck in the game-day plan. The real story is the open 53-man chair. If Liufau or Locke is ready, this is how you make room without touching the starters who just beat Philly.
