Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Get the Run Game Going and the Play Action Opens Up
Cowboys Nation, a 2-4 start after back-to-back losses makes everybody want a big fix. Dak's answer is old school: get the run game going.
**Our Take:** He's right. Ranking 31st in rushing won't cut it, and the best version of Dak has always been play action off a real run game. Get the run game going and the play action opens up everything else.
Per DallasCowboys.com, Dallas enters the week 31st in the NFL in rushing at 76 yards per game. "We've got to get it going, we've got to stick to it," Dak Prescott said. "Trust me, the offensive line is taking a lot of ownership in it."
He laid out why it matters: "From there, you get your play action, your passes. If you look at those numbers, I can guarantee you more than half of those were run action type plays and explosives. From there, a lot of things can open up."
Prescott also owned the trouble against the blitz after the 23-13 loss at Green Bay. "I just have to simplify the plan," he said, per Blogging The Boys. "It is definitely fixable." He called the blitz answers "simple fixes" and said communication on protections has to be better.
Brian Schottenheimer isn't doubting himself either. "I'm an elite play-caller in this league," he said.
**What to watch:** First-half carries on Monday Night Football. If Javonte Williams and the backs get going early, Dak's play action can do real damage.
