Cowboys 38, Eagles 21: Dallas Takes Over Monday Night in Philadelphia
The Dallas Cowboys went into Lincoln Financial Field on Monday Night Football and won 38-21 over the Philadelphia Eagles, scoring the final 18 points of the night. The victory moves Dallas to three wins and four losses (2-2 on the road). Philadelphia is now two wins and five losses.
How it happened: Brandon Aubrey opened the scoring with a 55-yard field goal, and after Saquon Barkley's 8-yard touchdown run put Philly ahead, Dak Prescott found CeeDee Lamb for a 9-yard score. The teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter (Dameon Pierce from 5 for the Eagles, George Pickens on a 21-yard catch for Dallas), and Aubrey's 27-yarder as the half expired gave Dallas a six-point lead at the break. Tanner McKee hit Makai Lemon from 4 yards out midway through the third to give Philadelphia a one-point lead, but Dallas answered right away: Prescott hit Lamb for a 16-yard touchdown with 1:30 left in the quarter and ran in the two-point conversion himself to go back up by seven. Aubrey added a 24-yard field goal early in the fourth, and Javonte Williams' 2-yard touchdown run with 2:21 left finished it.
By the numbers: Prescott went 15-of-27 for 212 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions (118.1 rating), and he wasn't sacked once. Williams carried 25 times for 155 yards and a touchdown. Lamb caught 5 passes for 74 yards and two scores, Ryan Flournoy added 4 for 70 and Pickens 4 for 57 and a touchdown. Aubrey was 3-for-3 on field goals. Dallas piled up 416 total yards, 204 of them on the ground, converted 8 of 13 third downs and didn't turn it over. On defense, DeMarvion Overshown had an interception, two pass breakups and six tackles, and the Cowboys sacked McKee twice. McKee finished 23-of-35 for 211 yards with a touchdown and an interception; Barkley ran 7 times for 62 yards.
Our Take: This is the most complete game Dallas has played all season. The run game set the tone, Williams wore the Eagles down in the second half, and when Philly finally took the lead, the offense went right back down the field and answered. Zero turnovers, zero sacks allowed and 8-of-13 on third down on the road in Philadelphia is how you win in this division. With three wins and four losses, the Cowboys are right back in the NFC East conversation.
Injuries: ESPN's game page listed no new in-game injuries for Dallas at the final. We'll update after the team's next availability.
What's next: The Cowboys come home to host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 1, at noon CT.
