Christian Parker Is Staying on the Sideline — and Calling the Defense 'Very Fixable'

By , Cowboys of Dallas ·

Jerry Jones floated Parker upstairs. The coordinator just told Dallas something different.

Our Take: Keep Parker on the grass, give Mike Pettine the booth brain, and stop treating a 395.4 yards-allowed defense like a mystery. Parker says the problems are under their control — Monday night at Lambeau is the first real test of that claim.

Per DallasCowboys.com's Tommy Yarrish, Parker said Thursday he is "most likely going to be down [on the field] still," after Jones suggested a move to the coaches booth earlier in the week. Brian Schottenheimer had already said Wednesday that none of those decisions were finalized. Parker called Pettine — hired Monday as senior defensive assistant and the coach who gave Parker his first NFL job in 2019 — a "sounding board" with front-seven expertise. Dallas is giving up the second-most total yards per game in the NFL at 395.4. On the players-only meeting after the Buccaneers loss, Parker called the timing "productive." On the issues: "Very fixable, because they're under our control."

What we want at Lambeau: early stops and a defense that looks like it heard its own meeting. How 'Bout Them Cowboys.
